(Festival SPIELART)Tour of Chelfitsch\'s production of Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner, and the Farewell Speech (written and directed by Toshiki Okada) will be taken to Athens, Greece and Munich, Cologne and Dusseldorf, Germany as part of the 150th anniversary of the Japanese-German friendship. In Munich it will be presented within the Festival SPIELART which shows theatre productions from all over the world that contain new approaches to performing arts. Besides the performances, artists talks will be offered to the audiences. Additionally, Toshiki Okada will give workshops with students in Munich and Dusseldorf.Tour Saburo Teshigawara "Mirror and Music"Paris (France), Amsterdam (Netherlands) Dusseldorf (Germany)March 2012Tanzhaus NRW, DüsseldorfThe project aims to organise a tour of the piece Mirror and Music to three European dance theatres in three countries: tanzhausnrw (Dusseldorf, Germany), Theatre de Chaillot (Paris, France) and Stadsschouwburg (Amsterdam, NL). The planned tour will present the upcoming Japanese performance collective Contact Gonzo for the first time in several European countries (Serbia, Germany and Switzerland) and for the second time in the Netherlands. The masters of Butoh dance, influenced by contemporary and Parapara dancers, will show their work and conduct workshops. The second edition of the Power of Age symposium will be organised and an exhibition of butoh dance about the life of Kazuo Ohno will also be presented. The program\'s emphasis is to involve the younger generation\'s interest in Japanese culture and increase the presence of this little unknown culture in the region.Tour Tokyo ExperienceParis, Annecy, Lyon (France)May. 27 - 29, 2011Société de Gestion de la Gaîté LyriqueL\'EXPERIENCE JAPONASE 2011 (LEX 2011) is the 3rd edition of a festival presenting Japanese contemporary creativity initiated by JAAPAN agency in Tokyo. LEX used to happen in the south of France, but for the first time it will be presented in Paris at La Gaite Lyrique, a new venue opening in March 2011, which aims to become an international reference in terms of digital arts and new music. LEX aims to introduce emerging Japanese artists to a European audience in the fiields of music, contemporary dance, media arts, design, video game culture, interactive installation and performance. La Gaite Lyrique and JAAPAN became associate producers for LEX 2011 festivals. The LEX program will be duplicated as much as possible to other venues and festivals in France and Europe. The LEX program draws from a multitude of networks within Japan from electronic music clubs to contemporary art museums and choreography award festivals. Oriza Hirata, writer, director and leader of the Seinendan Theatre Company, is an outstanding playwright and director in the field of contemporary theatre in Japan. He explained his "spoken style" theory, a new and practical system, in this essay entitled "Gendai Kogo Engeki no tameni" that had a strong influence on the Japanese theatrical world since the 1990\'s. Presentations: Pyhajarvi, Helsinki (Finland)July 2011 - June 2012Zodiak Presents rvThis program is a collaborative partnership between Finland and Japan which aims for successful international co-productions. Within the project, two new dance creations will be made, one in each country. The artistic teams of the creations are international: Japanese choreographer Kosei Sakamoto and Japanese lighting designer Takayuki Fujimoto create a new piece for Finnish dancers in Finland, and a Finnish choreographer creates a new piece in Japan for Japanese dancers. Both creations will be shown in Finland and Japan. In addition to the creations, the project also promotes touring possibilities by offering performance possiblities for other works. The selected Japanese choreographer will perform his/her own piece in Finland and the selected Finnish choreographer will perform his/her piece in Japan. Collaboration Wang-Tang Foo-eeLondon (UK)May 2011Boy Blue Entertainment LtdThe project is the first research and development stage for a new hip-hop/martial arts/manga dance production titled, Wang-Tang Foo-ee, to be commissioned by the Barbican Theatre, London and created by Boy Blue Entertainment. Akio Tanaka, the Japanese manga artist, has been identified as a key collaborator and designer for the production, to work with the Artistic Directors of Boy Blue Enntertainment, Kenrick Sandy and Micheal Asante. This application supports the first installment of the research and development period, to bring Akio Tanaka to London for two weeks to begin the creative development of the production.Collaboration Seven AngelsLondon, Birmingham, Glasgow, Oxford, Brighton, Wales (UK)June - July 2011The Opera GroupThe Opera Group will create a new opera, Seven Angels, as a collaboration with Japanese visual artist Tadasu Takamine. The opera is a co-production between the Opera Group, Birmingham Contempoarry Music Group and IKON Gallery and is being written by Luke Bedford to an original libretto by Glyn Maxwell. The piece explores themes of environmental degradation and is being developed in association with Friends of the Earth and Green Alliance. It will tour to venues in England, Scotland and Wales during June and July 2011. Tadasu Takamine will also have an exhibition with our co-producers IKON Gallery during spring/summer 2011.Collaboration Isolation - Quintet for ballet dancersDresden, Berlin (Germany)February - September 2011Hebbel-Theater Berlin GmbHThe Japanese dancer, choreographer, and sound/light designer Hiroaki Umeda plans to develop a dance piece with five young ballet dancers from the circle of the Dresden Semperoper Ballet. He will hold an audition in Dresden to find the dancers, will develop and rehearse the piece in Berlin and premiere it in the frame of the international dance festival Tanz im August 2011 at Hebbel am Ufer. Isolation will be one contribution of the Berlin based theatre HAU to the 150th anniversary of the Japanese-German friendship that will be celebrated in 2011.Collaboration Compartment City Vienna and other Urban InterventionsVienna (Austria)March - June 2011Wiener Festwochen GesmbHWiner Festwochen 2010 will offer a special focus on Japan, and the Japanese artist Akira Takayama, in collaboration with Austrian artists of the group God\'s Entertainment, the Austrian filmmakers of the group Umkehrfilm (directed by Florian Bruning) and the Austrian-based Japanese artist Michikazu Matsune have been commissioned to create a scenic installation in urban space. In co-operation with the Austrian artists, Akira Takayama wants to evolve further and re-orientate his scenic installation Compartment City in the Viennese context. He will set up a container housing a Japanese-style Internet cafe and vide shop at the entrance to an underpass in central Vienna. All videos, which visitors can watch in booths, present iterview films by Umkehrfilm, in which passers-by, homeless persons sleeping in the underpass or local businesspeople from Vienna are interviewed. Jun. 11 - 20, 2012National Theatre "Radu Stanca"National Theatre Radu Stanca Sibiu invites Mr. Masahiro Yasuda, the director of a Japanese theater group called Yamanote Jijosha. Together, with Mr. Yasuda a new production will be created, which will be premiered in September 2012 to open the 2012-2013 season. The production will be based on a play by Chikamatsu Monzaemon and feature actors of National Theatre Radu Stanca Sibiu. In perparation for this production, we will conduct multiple workshops and meetings in Sibiu.
