Ice Hot Nordic Dance Platform

This Platform is an event dedicated to the development and promotion of contemporary dance in the five Nordic countries (Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland). The first pilot project was held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2010. Since then, the partner organizations in the five participating countries have taken turns holding the event every other year.

The partner organizations are Dance Info Finland (Finland), Dansehallerne (Denmark), Dansens Hus Oslo (Norway), Dansens Hus Stockholm (Sweden) and Performing Arts Centre Iceland (Iceland). From 30 to 40 choreographers from different nations are chosen by the partner organizations to participate. Contemporary dance from the Nordic region is introduced to presenters and producers from the host country and other countries through showcase performances to encourage touring opportunities, etc., and presentations by the artists are held. Furthermore, seminars and the like are held, along with opportunities for networking by dance professionals.

After a hiatus due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first Platform in four years was held in Helsinki, Finland in 2022, and Heine Avdal & Yukiko Shinozaki, who have often performed in Japan, and Lindon Shimizu, whose parents are Japanese and Brazilian and himself based in Finland, were among the participants. The platform brings together producers, arts managers and artists from around the world.
