As Artistic Director of the UK’s leading comprehensive arts facility; Southbank Centre, and founder of METAL Culture, a studio centre for artistic exchange between creators, Jude Kelly is an influential figure in today’s British arts world. After beginning her career in theatre directing, Kelly became known as a promoter of community theatre due to her community-based theatre activities at the Battersea Arts Centre and West Yorkshire Playhouse.
