France’s ONDA (Office national de diffusion artistique) was established in 1975 with the mission of contributing to the spread of high quality performing arts to all regions of the country and creating a network of performing arts professionals, and operates with funding from the Ministry of Culture. Today, ONDA is working under a new policy to concentrate its support on highly innovative contemporary performing arts, and in 2010 it distributed a total of 2.5 million euro in grants to some 580 companies and organizations involved in contemporary creative activities.
