Atsushi Okabe

Born 1966 in Saitama Prefecture. A teacher and faculty advisor of the drama club at Iwate Prefectural Fukuoka High School. Administrative director of the Tohoku Regional High School Drama Council. Member of the editorial board of the quarterly publication High School Drama . Awarded a prize in the original play division of the 4th Morioka Citizen Theater Awards in 2006 for his play I am a little girl . based on the life of the younger sister of famous Iwate writer Kenji Miyazawa. This play is now performed in junior and senior high schools around Japan. It also won the Award for Excellence and Encouragement Award for an original script in the 44th Tohoku District High School Theater Performance Competition. Celebrating the 110th anniversary of its founding in 2011, Iwate Prefectural Fukuoka High School is also known for counting among its alumni the internationally renowned graphic designer Shigeo Fukuda and the creator of the well-known children’s book Eleven Cats series, Noboru Baba.
