World Summit on Arts and Culture (postponed due to the influence of the COVID-19)
This summit is the main conference of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) founded in 2000 with the purpose of improving the capacity and effectiveness of government agencies arts funding in order to benefit society through networking, advocacy and research arts. With its focus on the rejuvenation and development of the arts and culture, the summit introduces a variety of best practices and schemes using the arts and culture to affect material, social and economic change. The 1st World Summit was held in Ottawa, Canada in 2000, followed by the 2nd in Singapore in 2003, the 3rd in Newcastle-Gateshead, UK in 2006, the 4th in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2009 and the 5th Melbourne, Australia in 2011, all held in cooperation with the host countries' arts councils. The summits are attended by approximately 500 representatives of primarily IFACCA member national arts agencies.
