Northern Alps Art Festival

This international art festival has been held since 2017 in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture. In the festival, the works of the participating artists are displayed in ways that connect not only to the myriad appeals of the greater area of the city of Omachi, including its rich forests and local culture surrounded by the mountains of the Northern Alps range, but also with the dams, the river headwaters, the three lakes of Nishina and Higashiyama. The festival’s program also features live music and theater performances. The general director is Fram Kitagawa.
The 2nd holding of the festival in 2021 presented works by 38 participating artists from 11 countries of Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa, although some changes in the initial schedule were necessary. The artists participating in the performance section included Ryota Fujimaki, Kazuyoshi Kushida, Mum & Gypsy and others.
